INTELMAR SA was founded originally in 1979 as a Virginia, USA corporation. Shortly thereafter, the company moved to Panama, as all of the then anticipated business was to be in Central and South America as well as the Caribbean (CALA). The purpose was to distribute telecommunications equipment, spares, training and support throughout the CALA regions.
INTELMAR grew and developed a regional network of agents, representatives and subsidiaries. The principal subsidiaries were in Mexico, Guatemala, Costa Rica and Colombia.
Due to INTELMAR's success in the CALA market, INTELMAR was asked and accepted the task of creating a US subsidiary. This company was Ameritel, and was (and still is) an immediate success in the Washington Baltimore corridor.
Today, INTELMAR SA advises and assists US and European companies on how to do business in the CALA regions.
